Museums:  No/Low  Admission Policies

In New York, several museums have set aside time for voluntary contributions or a free night subsidized by a large corporation.  Here is a list of free/pay-as-you-like (henceforth noted as “donation”) opportunities in and outside NYC:

American Folk Art Museum--Fridays, 5:30-7:30 pm: no charge

Asia Society—Fridays, 6-9 pm: no charge (except July 4th through Labor Day).

 AXA Gallery on Seventh Ave.at 51St.—no charge.

The Brooklyn Museum--First Saturdays, 5-11 pm: Target evenings, no charge.

The Bruce Museum, Greenwich—Tuesdays: no charge.

Fashion Institute of Technology Museum--no charge.

Ellen Fisher Landau, Astoria—Thursdays-Mondays: no charge.

Frick—Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm: donation.

Guggenheim—Friday evenings used to be by donation—but the website does not list that as an option now.

Jewish Museum—Saturdays: no charge; Thursday evenings, 5-9 pm: donation.

 The Hispanic Society of America, on Audubon Terrace at 155--no charge.

The Katonah Museum of Art—Tuesdays-Sundays, 10 am to noon: no charge.

Metropolitan Museum of Art--suggested donation $20

Morgan Library and Museum--Fridays, 7-9: no charge.

El Museo del Barrio--For seniors all day Thurs.: no charge

Museum of Modern Art--Fridays, 4 pm to 8 pm: Target evenings, no charge

Museum of the City of New York--No charge for neighbors.

New York Public Library on Fifth and 42 St; Lincoln Center—no charge.

Onassis Cultural Center--no charge.

Rubin Museum of Art, West 17 St in Chelsea--Fridays, 7-10 pm: no charge.

Whitney--Friday, 6-9: no charge
